The American Division curriculum is aligned to the Common Core State Standards:
  1. Today’s students are preparing to enter a world in which colleges and businesses are demanding more than ever before. To ensure all students are ready for success after high school, the American Common Core establish clear, consistent guidelines for what every student should know and be able to do in Math, English language arts and Science from kindergarten through 12thΒ grade.
  2. The Common Core focuses on developing the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills students will need to be successful.
  3. The International Curriculum with suitable adaptations is the foundation for other subjects such as Social Studies, Music, Art, Physical Education and Computing.
  4. French is taught as a second language from Grade 1
  5. Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies are provided according to the Ministry of Education’s requirements.
  6. Children’s social and emotional wellbeing is an integral part of our philosophy here at RIS. Thus, through Character Building lessons and assemblies we emphasise the importance of life skills such as: respect, honesty, kindness and independence.
  7. Teachers use a wide range of strategies to deliver curriculum content such as science investigations, interactive hands on projects, presentation skills activities, games, listening and speaking activities and outdoor learning through field trips. These strategies are used in conjunction with other more formal methods and ongoing assessments such as spelling tests, quizzes, writing tasks and assessments. Our teachers prepare and deliver their lessons using a range of resources aimed to interest and inspire the students.
